This tuesday the first official album by Unwilling Participant, 'Becoming [MORE]' will drop. it is the final mix and edit of the 'Becoming' demo that came out a few months ago. with this the band will be playing a few shows to celebrate and get ready to head into another studio... somewhere... to finish up their second album. they swear that this one will take less time.

the other new album coming out on tuesday...

'Years in Silence' the debut EP from Olympia Noise and Blues band ROXANNE will be dropping as well. the liner notes are going to be interesting, and the music is honest and fairly upfront... i am excited to be working with this group, and i cant wait for people to hear it.

Olympia spoken word/noise and blues band 'Roxanne' has finally gotten everything together to release their brand new EP, 'Years in Silence'.

The 4 song collection comes out at close to 20 minutes, and is planned to include some interesting bonus features. Songtitles for the album include 'Return to the Scenes of the Crimes', 'The 20 Year Silence', 'God Among Ants', and 'I Miss You'. As with everything here on Rusty Hack-Saw Records, it will be up for free/'Pay Whatever You Want' with an emphasis on the FREE aspect.

On March 19th, Overdue Exorcism will be heading back into The Dive Studios over in Norwood, New Jersey to whip up a new EP tentatively titled 'My Darling Emily'... more news on that, and a proposed tracklisting in the upcoming weeks.

Rusty Hack-Saw Project is ALMOST Finished with a New Album...

'Dedication & Conviction', the brand new Rusty Hack-Saw Project album, is almost finished and ready to be sent out to the world (or at least the small portion that cares)

six of the seven songs are completely finished (with a total time of about 67 minutes between them) and in various degrees of their mix-downs. the final song, is on the chopping block for today, hopefully it all works out correctly...

photography for the album is almost finished as well. each song will have a corresponding collage/image collection, and as of now three are finished and the pictures for one more have been taken.

it IS wishful thinking, but the album and images should all be done by the end of this week, so with any luck the new album will be dropping (for 'pay whatever the hell you want, or not at all just take it' download) on the 28th.

i hope someone out there is a fraction as excited as i am.

Flagship band Rusty Hack-Saw Project is working on a brand new album titled 'Dedication & Conviction'. The album so far seems to be a spiritual sequel to the 'Dreams Without Hope' two part album that came out just a few months ago. as of now the album is looking to be about 7 songs, and over 70 minutes.

OlyHC (Olympia Hardcore) band 'Unwilling Participant' was in the Evergreen C.A.B. Studio last sunday to lay down the tracks for their upcoming debut album, 'Becoming'. The 14 track album is a collection of all types of hardcore, punk, metal, avant-garde, experimental, and the kitchen sink. some tracks range from Agnostic Front style hardcore to Napalm Death grind and trash all in a few seconds. The band cant wait to finish Mixing its album and then mastering it and sending it right over to the Rusty Hack-Saw Records website for Free/Pay What You Want download.

In other news, Olympia, Washington musician Roxanne will be heading into the studio on sunday to cut their label debut, 'The 20 Year Silence'. The album is gearing up to be an abstract work of art and passion. songtitles that are rumored to be appearing are 'I Miss You', 'Returning to the Scenes of the Crime', 'Brother Lost', 'Pride In ___'. This is a signing i am VERY happy to announce. the world needs to hear music made with this kind of love and passion, i hope other people agree as well.

In yet OTHER news, New Jersey band Healing Bruise, after a few stops and starts, has finally buckled down and just about finished work in The Dive Studios on their debut song. Expect more information and music from them soon.

Also, i hope you guys are ready for some more Overdue Exorcism, because there are some rumblings i hear that they will be cutting a single due out this Christmas.

and rounding out this little announcement, namesake band Rusty Hack-Saw Project is gearing up work work on an album that is going to be both a compounding on and a huge step away from their latest work, the double album 'Dreams Without Hope'. for those of you out there who havent picked it up, or havent gone over it yet, this is the best reviewed (though not the best 'selling') album from the band to date.

The double album is broken into two separate, but connected, halves, or 'albums' of their own.

These are amazingly personal and meaningful albums for me, and i can only hope that everyone out there picks up these works with an open mind. In some ways these are the cleanest/best produced/most accessible Rusty Hack-Saw Project albums ever, but in other ways these are the most 'far out' and abstract ones yet.

The new Double Album, 'Dreams Without Hope' by Rusty Hack-Saw Project is in the final stages here over at Decaying Thought Studio in Olympia, Washington.

The album is broken into two volumes, Volume One, Speak to Me in Strange Words

and Volume Two, End My Whispers,

In total this is Two and a Half full hours of music, spread across 19 tracks. (8 on Volume One, and 11 on Volume Two)

It is hard to hype up an album like this. It doesnt have any small compact singles, any easy-listening moments, or even any blunt and upfront lyrical passages. This is an album steeped in personal experience, growth, acceptance, disgust, and joy.

Yes.

Joy.

I fear that i may be falling into that 'musician' trap of saying that every album is the best, or the strongest one yet. but in this case it is very true.

Delete Key was stronger than Dragging Horse Bones/Dust in Our Throats, and Dead Saint's Day was stronger than that.

This double album is the strongest thing to carry the Rust hack-Saw Project banner yet. i believe that in my heart of hearts. There is more here to hear, take in, decode, identify with, and most of all, to think about.

Like everything else here at Rusty Hack-Saw Records, it will be available for FREE with a pay what you want option.

Diesel Beast [Special Edition] and The Bandroom Demos out now!

Both the expanded special edition of Diesel Beast, and the retouched and cleaned up version of Rules of the Storm's 'The Bandroom Demos' have been put up for 'pay whatever you want' download.

again, since these are both reissues, i think that you should really just pick them up for free and not look back. a lot of people came out and bought them the first time around, but now that they BOTH include at least one new track, new and improved covers, and liner notes, i think it is only fair that you get to snag them for free.

Diesel Beast [Special Edition] has been expanded from a small EP into a 17 track monster of an album, including never before released tracks from the same recording sessions as the original EP, the Demos that first brought a few of the songs to life, and two different cut versions of the song 'November'.

These two albums will end the [Remastered] and [Special Edition] reissued for a while, so get ready for new music coming soon. As i have noted before, the Overdue Exorcism album is on it's way. there is a Healing Bruise EP and or Single in the works at the moment, a new two part Rusty Hack-Saw Project album is being written, and another as-of-yet-unannounced project is working in the early stages. so be ready for more music from RH-SR.

Diesel Beast [Special Edition] Coming Soon!

The special edition of the Rusty Hack-Saw Project album 'Diesel Beast' is coming out NEXT Tuesday, August 31st. The EP will be extended to 9 songs, and include a significant amount of bonus tracks.

Also, on the same day, the Rules of the Storm Demo Collection, 'The Bandroom Demos' will be re-released in a remixed and retouched format as 'The Bandroom Demos [Remastered]'. This will include an additional bonus track, left off the original album, polished versions of the original demo tape, digital liner notes, and a special remix.

Both albums will be available, as with all releases, as 'Pay What You Want' downloads, but since these are both re-releases, i want to STRESS that free is an option, and that if you are one of the people who picked up either of these albums the first time around i expressly want you to take it for free.

In other news, Overdue Exorcism is still in the wings, their Debut album is being mastered and given its final mix-down over at The Dive in New Jersey by the skilled and seasoned hands of engineer Doug Schwenker. The new Rusty Hack-Saw Project album (the first album of new material since Dead Saint's Day) is being written and structured. And the other bands/musicians here at RH-SR are all at work on their own projects. Dragging Horse Bones [Remastered] OUT NOW for whatever price you want!

i know i only just announced this idea, but i am too excited. the sound of this remix/remaster/reconstruction is just too good.

for those VERY few of you out there who i sent the original mix to, this is a monolithic change. and to the bunches out there who picked up the first official version on Rusty Hack-Saw Records' old page, this is still a gigantic change.

this new version is updated, fixed, edited, remastered, and reorganized. this is the definitive version of Rusty Hack-Saw Records' very first release. i couldnt be prouder of this work. i think that the updated (and decidedly better) cover, the stark liner notes, and the upped power of the music all serve to make this album what it really should have been the first time around.

so, just like all the other releases on this label it will be available as a 'pay whatever the hell you want' download, but i want to ENCOURAGE everyone out there to take it for free. a whole bunch of people went out and paid for the album last time, and they shouldnt be forced to pay again. this is the stronger of the two, and i want THIS to be the version that people hear. so come on over to THE SITE and pick it up FOR FREE!

Finally after a long time fooling and working i have it figured out. Rusty Hack-Saw Records is finally set up the way i wanted.

Now from this website, http://rustyhack-sawrecords.bandcamp.com/album/delete-key all of you out there can download music from bands on the RH-SR roster for whatever price you feel or want. that means that if you feel like getting it totally for free, you can, no one is stopping you. if you want to pay a dollar for a whole album, that is fine too. if you want to pay 100... well... that is awesome, but not necessary.

music is expression, it is passion and it is dedication. it isnt about money. that is why this little label is not going to be my cash-cow. that is why i dont ever plan on being able to live fully of of this. this is my creation, my love, NOT my work. not my job. i do this because i want to, not because i have to. and for me that is what keeps this clean. i am not looking for ways to bleed the people out there that find my music. i am looking for ways to make people FEEL.

How Music Comes Around

i have now put my foot down and decided to begin the hardest part of working on music, the voice. the sounds of the album are established in my mind, i know what i want the 'music' to sound like. i have a drive and a goal with that, but the voice, that is now on my dashboard. the lyrics for this new album, 'Dead Saint's Day' are in some ways darker, and in other ways more hopeful than 'Delete Key', or even 'Dragging Horse Bones', and 'Dust in Our Throats'. One thing i can say about the lyrics so far is that they are harsher, and so the voice will need to be accordingly.

there WILL be singing on this album, there will be screaming... there will be whispering, and there will be speaking. there is also some speculation that this may be a double album... but that is up in the air... i want the voice of the music to represent the tonal shifts in this album as compared to the last. this is a bigger affair. this is a celebration of sorts whereas 'Delete Key' was a mourning.

this is the party after the funeral. but it still isnt a walk in the park.

i have been rolling around with music for the past few days. i have actually been procrastinating. i have been putting off the recording of my follow up to 'Delete key', not because of a lack of excitement or ideas, but because, just like with Delete Key, i want to be completely soaked through with my influences when it comes time to record. i seem to have this horrible tendency to decide what i want to sound like and then just miss the mark by a few miles. that being said, i still love to listen to things that elicit a strong reaction within me.

so i have been listening to Phantasmagore by Deadsy, Hours by David Bowie, Tyranny of Souls by Bruce Dickinson, and Mechanize by Fear Factory.

my new album, 'The Dream is Dead' will sound like none of them though. so far, with the writing i have been doing it would be safe to say that the album is slower, lower, darker, and far more lyrical than 'Delete Key'... but that may change...

I got my first shipment of albums today, and i cant wait to sell them to people.

iTunes has not yet uploaded the album, so that is annoying, but once they do, i will upload the special Digital Booklet for download. The alt. mix of the album will also be going up on my webstore (where shirts and such can be found) in a day or so as well.

but as for this CD, it is 14 tracks that all make up one larger piece. there is also a bonus track, one that was written for the album but for a host of reasons was removed. i included it on the CD to make it a little special, and different from the iTunes copy that will be available soon.

so if you want a copy of the album, and i am hoping that you will, you can just email me at Rusty.Hack.Saw.Project@gmail.com and i will be more than happy to get started sending you what is (at the point in my life) my proudest musical moment. every little buzz, layer of crackle and distortion, faulty microphone, humming low end, static screech, hiss, and off kilter beat comes together to make something i am very proud of and very happy with. and i know this album, and most of my own personal music, isnt for everyone. i know that there are some people who will think it is sloppy, unskilled, boring, or other things... but this is something i did on purpose. and something i worked for. every sound is supposed to be there. so if you want to experience what i have made, or you just believe in experiential music and want to support a struggling "artist" just shoot me an email.

i recently finished writing up this story. it is called 'Running Away' and it is about loss and acceptance. i dont expect many people to read it, seeing as it must be downloaded, but still, i figured i would post it.

A Window Through To The Past

my old home, HERE, still exists... in a sort of mummified moth-ball and formaldehyde state. you can still look back at it, look at the information, look at the stories, look at the posts... but it is in the past.

because of a list of boring reasons i have changed sites for my website.
i wont list them here because even i am not fully interested in them.

but now this new website, this new page, this will be my home. this will be where i review other's work, shamelessly promote my own, and muse about any number of things.

i am debating carrying over some old posts/reviews... but im not sure yet. so for now this is just an announcement. this is my new home. and you are all welcome here.
